Improved comment thread deletion workflow

The comment deletion workflow is now more consistent in Acrobat. You can now delete the replies on both shared and personal files, ensuring the entire thread is removed. Before deletion, a confirmation dialog will appear to confirm the action.

Select any comment thread you want to delete. Select   and then select Delete Thread.

Select text and start typing to replace

Now in Adobe Acrobat, you can select text and start typing to add replace text annotation. This feature enhances comprehensive reviews. If you select the text and type, Acrobat adds a replace annotation, and if you place the cursor on the document and type, Acrobat inserts an annotation.

  1. Select text with the selection tool and start typing.

  2. As you type, the selected text gets a strike-through. Meanwhile, a draft icon pops up, and the comment is in focus.

  3. Once done, you can press enter to post the comment.

To keep the text unchanged, you have several options: select Cancel in the comment box, tap outside the box, choose another tool, or press the escape key.

Quickly deselect commenting tool

You can now quickly deselect commenting tool in Acrobat and exit the workflow by pressing Esc key on your keyboard.

Improved resolve comments experience

You can now resolve the comments in your document in the following ways:

Hover over the comment to resolve

To resolve a comment, hover over the desired comment. You'll then see the Resolve comment (✓) option appear in the upper right corner of the comment box. Simply select the resolve comment option to mark it as resolved.

Note:

In the default view of the comment panel, both resolved and unresolved comments will be visible. Users can use the filter to show or hide resolved and unresolved comments according to their preference. Filters will reset to their default settings upon page refresh or session reset.

Select the comment you want to resolve; you see the resolve comment option (✓) in the upper right of the comment box. Select (✓) to resolve the comment.

Show/hide resolved comments

After resolving a comment for the first time, you can use the filter option in the comments pane to hide resolved comments.

Select the filter icon in the upper right in the comments pane. Turn on the Hide resolved comments toggle and select Apply.

When you resolve a comment with Hide resolved comments turned on, the resolved comment will automatically disappear.

Note:

If a user turns on the toggle to hide resolved comments, Acrobat will retain this preference, maintaining the same filter setting across page refreshes and session changes. However, when a new document is opened, the default setting will reset to display both resolved and unresolved comments.

Note:

When you apply a filter, either through the filter option or the resolved toggle, the comment count in the upper right of the comments pane updates to show the number of filtered comments out of the total.

Improved Acrobat color swatch accessibility

Enhanced color swatch with new accessible colors for both white and black backgrounds.

Most documents are viewed with a white background. Previously, only 5 out of 18 colors in the swatch met accessibility standards against a white background. The updated color swatch now features colors that are fully accessible on both white and black backgrounds, ensuring better visibility and readability.

Emoticon support in Acrobat desktop

Emoji support in Acrobat desktop (Mac & Win) allows users to express their feedback more effectively and creatively with emoticons, enhancing communication within the workflow.

Mac support is now enabled (Windows support launched in Beta of May is now fully enabled).  

Open any shared file for review and access the comments section. Notice the new icon in the comment box, which allows you to add emojis. Select the icon to open the emoji picker window. You can now select any emoji and review the PDF accordingly.

Send custom message on document resharing

You can now add custom messages when resharing a document with new recipients through the invitation workflow. The owner can provide additional context for the reviewers. Users can choose to include these messages as page-level comments. Additionally, reviewers will receive the custom message in the invitation email, enhancing the overall resharing experience.

Stay Updated with near real-time comment timestamps

The timestamps on comments in Acrobat are now more intuitive, offering near real-time interaction and helping you track recent activities. The comments section displays elapsed time for recent comments, such as "just now," "2 mins ago," "1 hour ago," and more.

Enhanced engagement with ticker animation

You can now experience a new ticker animation feature in page level commenting. The animation draws attention to existing comments in the file and encourages you to post your own comments. If no comments are present, a GIF will prompt you to add a comment.

This feature fosters greater interaction and collaboration within the file.

Acrobat Auto populates @mention suggestion for signed-in users

Acrobat now auto-populates @mention suggestions for signed-in users. This feature ensures that you get notified in real-time when your comment is replied to, making collaboration on shared files more efficient.

The owner of a shared document can now selectively remove any collaborator directly from the share sheet.

Note:

The feature can only be used by users from ACP-migrated organizations.

Preference to open a new window for every document

Every document you open in new Acrobat can now open in a new window.

Open Preferences in Acrobat. Select General under Categories and then uncheck Open documents as new tabs in the same window (requires relaunch).

Access Adobe Express features from the Stylize modal

Simplify your editing process with Adobe Acrobat's seamless integration of Adobe Express tools. Now, you can effortlessly access the tools you need for document editing.

When you select Stylize this PDF from the Edit menu in the Global bar, an overlay banner immediately presents you with options. This banner enhances productivity by reducing the time spent searching through Adobe Express for specific tools such as adding shapes and icons, resizing pages, applying color themes, adding Stock images, changing page backgrounds, or receiving font recommendations.

To edit your documents using Adobe express from Acrobat:

  1. Select Stylize this PDF from the Edit menu in the global bar. An overlay banner opens with editing options from Adobe Express.

  2. Select the feature you require and then select Continue in Adobe Express.

  3. If you select Get font recommendations, the file opens in Adobe Express in a web browser. The first text box is selected on the document. The text panel will open in the Left-hand pane with font recommendations for the selected text box.

    Now, you can change the fonts, of a selected area or of the entire document making the process efficient.

Similarly:

  • If you select any other feature, such as the Apply color theme, the color theme panel will pen in Adobe Express on the web.
  • If you select the Resize page, the resize panel opens in Adobe Express in a web browser.
  • If you select Add shapes and icons, the file will open in Adobe Express in a web browser.
  • The elements panel will be open in the left pane with the shapes tab open.
  • If you select Change background color, the file opens in Adobe Express with the Background color panel open.
  • If you select Add Adobe Stock images, the file will open in Adobe Express in a web browser. The media panel will be open with the Photos tab selected by default.

Long document support in edit using colorado

Acrobat now supports reflowable editing in long documents up to 50 pages. The release includes all the constructs supported thus far, viz., Para, List, Image, Table, Aside, etc. Once the complete document is in reflow edit mode, Auto-Adjust Layout is on bezel will be shown. The feature will be incrementally rolled out in June.

Accessibility Improvements

Enhanced Readability: The Tag, Order, and Content Panels now support a zoom-in text feature, making it easier to read and access content.

Improved Keyboard Accessibility: We've significantly updated the Forms app, enabling seamless form creation using only the keyboard.

Better Visual Experience: High contrast ratio issues in the new UI have been diligently addressed to provide a superior visual experience for all users.

Corrected State Inconsistencies: We've fixed state inconsistencies for checkboxes, radio buttons, and textboxes in the new UI, ensuring they function correctly.

Improved Usability: List names are now properly announced, enhancing overall usability. Additionally, we've resolved various issues related to incorrect states, labels, and focus indicators throughout the application.

These updates are designed to improve accessibility, usability, and user experience.
