This dynamic control simplifies workflows and ensures consistent, adaptable text across all platforms, making it easier to create cohesive and responsive designs.
With COLR fonts, you can now add emojis to your text and create rich, gradient-filled text styles with smooth color transitions. These fonts offer customizable color effects directly within your text, adding depth and dimension to your designs without compromising scalability.
Now, directly from the Reflow Viewer panel, you can create outlines and add character positioning to East Asian text when editing documents created in older Illustrator versions.
Illustrator now provides improved character positioning and kerning to help refine your Japanese text layouts. These enhancements automatically adjust the spacing in your text, providing high-quality text layouts without the need for manual adjustments.
We're committed to continually improving to meet your changing needs. Based on your feedback, here are the enhancements to Illustrator in the February 2025 release.
Your collaborators can embed fonts in the Illustrator files they share with you. When you open a file containing embedded fonts, you can preview missing fonts without installing them. However, to edit the text containing missing fonts, you'll need to use the default or replacement font.
To embed fonts, your collaborator must save the file with the option Embed permitted fonts for file preview or Create PDF Compatible File selected. Embed permitted fonts for file preview is recommended, as Create PDF Compatible File may not embed all the permitted fonts.
- You must update to Illustrator 29.3 to preview missing fonts.
- Your collaborator must update to Illustrator 29.3 to embed fonts with Embed permitted fonts for file preview. Create PDF Compatible File is an existing default option now extended to support font embedding without your collaborator needing to update Illustrator or save the file again.
The Measure tool lets you measure the area of one or more selected objects on the canvas, including compound paths. You can exclude specific objects and segments of overlapping objects from your selection, giving you more control over the area measurement.
Save patterns and gradients to the Creative Cloud Library for easier access, smoother team collaboration and simplified workflows, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
