Reset and restore preferences

Learn how to reset or restore your preferences in Media Encoder.

Reset preferences

Resetting your preferences can help clear various settings and caches when launching Adobe Media Encoder (Beta), resulting in a smoother and more stable workflow. 

  1. Launch Media Encoder and hold down the Shift key. 

  2. Select the relevant options in the Reset options dialog. 

    • Reset app preferences: Restores default settings without deleting custom keyboard shortcuts or presets. This will delete watchfolders and workspaces.
    • Reset user presets: Deletes all the user presets and resets the preset browser.
    • Reset plugin loading cache: Clears plugin information to fix potential plugin issues.
    • Disable third-party video plugins (one-time only): Temporarily turns off third-party plugins to troubleshoot stability issues.
    The Reset options dialog is open with options to reset and clear various settings and caches.

  3. Select Relaunch with Options to carry out the selected actions and continue the launch process.

    Media Encoder launches with the reset settings. For example, cleared caches and disabled third-party plugins to resolve issues.
