Remove objects from a photo

Learn how to remove unwanted objects from your photos.

Use the Generative Remove feature, powered by Adobe Firefly generative AI, to remove distractions and unwanted objects from a photo. Brush over the object you want to remove. Camera Raw will use Adobe Firefly generative AI to analyze the masked object and generate a fill that will blend in with the image. You need to have an internet connection to use the Generative Remove feature.

Note:

The Heal panel has been renamed to Remove. You can switch between RemoveHeal, and Clone tools in the Remove panel.

  5. Select as necessary:

    • Show Overlay: This helps you view the mask overlay when you hover over the spot.
    • Show Uncropped imageThis helps you view the entire uncropped photo, including objects that may overlap the edges of the crop rectangle. When removing objects that overlap the crop edge, brush over the whole object, not just the area within the cropped photo.
    • Visualize Spots: This helps you visualize spots to make accurate selections. You can also adjust the threshold using the amount slider.
  6. You can use Detect Objects to automatically detect and remove an object by circling it. Camera Raw analyzes the photo content to determine the best selection.
