How to use interactive objects for project navigation

You can define the navigation options using interactive objects according to the following:

  • When the user performs the action as defined in the application
  • When the user performs an action other than that defined in the application

The following list describes actions available in both the On Enter and On Exit menus in the Property inspector of a slide.

To use an interactive object, on the big button bar, click Interactions, and choose any object from the menu.

Note:

The options Go To Previous Slide, Go To Next Slide, Go To Last Visited Slide, and Jump To Slide are available only in the On Exit menu.

Continue

The movie moves to the next defined action.

Go To The Previous Slide

The previous slide is displayed to the user.

Go To The Next Slide

The movie moves to the next slide.

Go To The Slide Last Visited

The movie moves to the previously viewed slide.

Jump To Slide

The movie moves to the specified slide.

Open URL Or File

A web browser opens with the specified web page if the user has internet connectivity. Alternatively, you could open a specified file for the user.

To open a file, click the Browse button, and navigate to the location of the file.

When you publish the project, Captivate Classic exports the selected file to the location of the location of the published project.

To open a project, choose Open another project from the On Success drop-down list.

While specifying a URL, click the arrow adjacent to the URL box to open the URL in one of the following ways:

  • Current In the current browser window in which the Adobe Captivate Classic movie is playing.
  • New In a new browser window.
  • Parent In cases where the Adobe Captivate Classic project is a part of an HTML page, choose this option to display the URL in the region allotted for the project.
  • Top In cases where the Adobe Captivate Classic project is a part of an HTML page, choose this option to display the URL in the ‘top frame’ of the page.

Open Another Project

Opens the specified Adobe Captivate Classic project.

Send E-mail To

A draft of the default e-mail editor opens with the e-mail address specified in the To field.

Execute JavaScript

Adobe Captivate Classic runs the specified JavaScript.

Execute Advanced Actions

Adobe Captivate Classic runs the script written in Adobe Captivate Classic.

Execute Shared Action

Lets you associate the object with a shared advanced action. If you choose this option, select a shared action from the drop-down list and click {P} to edit the parameters.

Play Audio

Adobe Captivate Classic plays the audio assigned to the interactive object. The audio plays until users click another interactive object, or navigate away from the slide. If users do not interact, the audio plays only for the duration of the specified audio file and does not loop.

Before the audio ends, if users click another interactive object with audio, the second audio file begins to play.

Note:

If you use multiple Play Audio actions in Advanced Actions, only the audio corresponding to the first Play Audio action is played.

Stop Triggered Audio

Adobe Captivate Classic stops the latest audio that was triggered by the Play Audio action.

Show

When the user performs the required action, the specified hidden object is made visible

Hide

When the user performs the required action, the specified object is hidden from the user.

Enable

When the user performs the required action, it activates another object in the project.

Disable

When the user performs the required action, it disables another object in the project.

Assign

When the user performs the required action, the value of the specified variable is set inside the object.

Increment

When the user performs the required action, the value of the specified variable is incremented accordingly.

Decrement

When the user performs the required action, the value of the specified variable is decremented accordingly.

Exit

When users perform the required action, they exit from the movie.

Pause

When users perform the required action, the movie pauses.

Apply Effect

When the user performs the required action, the effect associated with the specified object is applied.

Toggle

When users perform the required action, the specified varible toggles from 0 to 1 and from 1 to 0.

When users perform the required action, the TOC is displayed.

Show Playbar

When users perform the required action, the playbar is displayed.

Hide TOC

When users perform the required aciton , the TOC is hidden.

Hide Playbar

When users perform the required action, the playbar is hidden.

Lock TOC

When users perform the required action, the TOC is locked. Clicking a topic in the TOC does not navigate users to the topic.

Unlock TOC

When users perform the required action, the TOC is unlocked.

No Action

Nothing happens when the user exits the slide.
