Adobe Connect 9.8 Release Notes

Read on to understand the release dates, upgrade information, updates, improvements, and known issues in the Adobe Connect 9.8 release.

Overview

Adobe Connect is a market-leading web conferencing solution that enables corporations, schools, and government organizations worldwide to deliver rich collaboration, webinars, and e-learning experiences. For an overview of Adobe Connect, see www.adobe.com/products/adobeconnect.html.

The Adobe Connect 9.8 release implements various improvement requests, continues replacing Flash in Connect Central Web application pages with HTML5, and resolves several bugs.

Release dates

Adobe Connect 9.8 rolls out in the following phases:  

Hosted services:

Starting April 23, 2018; check the migration schedule for your account here.

On-premise deployments:

Starting May 11, 2018 (for patch).

Starting Jun 13, 2018 (for full installer).

Managed services:

Contact your Adobe Connect Managed Services (ACMS) representative to schedule an update.

What's new in Adobe Connect 9.8

We did the following improvements in the release:

  • Added the new Select Speaker option in the Audio Setup wizard in Meeting and Flashless Diagnostic Test Page (Adobe Connect application for Windows only).
  • Added a user prompt to start the meeting audio conference when a user starts recording the meeting without turning on the audio conference.
  • Tomcat upgraded to version 8.0.50.
  • JRE upgraded to version 1.8.0_162.

Note:

The re-designed HTML interfaces for audio provider and user manager could not make it to the final release.

System requirements

For on-premise deployments, support for Windows Server 2016 is added in this release.

Adobe Connect application 64-bit (beta release)

This update includes an optional new 64-bit beta version of the Adobe Connect application to join meetings. The current 32-bit versions of the Adobe Connect application will continue to work with the Adobe Connect 9.8 release. Adobe recommends to test the new beta version and share feedback.

Upgrade paths for on-premise deployments

The following are the prerequisites before you can upgrade to this release using patch:

  • From Adobe Connect 8.x, upgrade to Adobe Connect 9, then update to Adobe Connect 9.7.5 before applying this patch.
  • From Adobe Connect 9.x, update to Adobe Connect 9.7.5 before applying this patch.

Upgrade path using full installer:

  • From Adobe Connect 8.x, upgrade to Adobe Connect 9 
  • From Adobe Connect 9.x
