With the August 2022 release of Photoshop 23.5, enjoy our Select Subject cloud service to get finer and better quality images than what you get with our on-device Select Subject processing.
To work with the Select Subject cloud service, do any of the following:
- Choose between Device or Cloud mode for Select Subject Processing by navigating to the Image Processing section in the Preferences dialog box.
- You can also make your selection from within the Select & Mask workspace or by clicking the Select > Subject menu option.
Toggle between the Cloud mode, while working with details, and the Device mode, when you need faster results.

Photoshop users - we heard you! You can now use neutral colors for user interface elements in the application frame (such as the Share button). Navigate to Preferences > Interface and you will see a checkbox under the Appearance section for Neutral Color Mode.

With this release, you can now search using keywords within the Preferences dialog box even on your Windows machine as well.
The search bar is enabled by default and available for everyone. It is placed near the upper-right corner of the Preferences dialog.

Get more tonal variations and color and brightness adjustments in your 16-bit documents with our updated precise previews feature. Plus, you get more accurate compositing and histograms and there is reduced scope for data inaccuracy and banding.
