Learn about new features and enhancements in the March 2025 release of Illustrator on desktop (version 29.4).
Menus and menu items open and respond more quickly and smoothly, helping you access features and complete workflows more efficiently.
When you use Retype to identify the fonts used in rasterized or outlined text, words with the same font appear with a common border if they're next to each other. Even if they're not, selecting one word highlights all the other words that have that font. This helps you quickly identify all the unique fonts without manually scanning each word.
In the Retype panel, the Show Favorite Fonts filter lets you view all the suggested fonts you've marked as favorites. You can also use the panel menu to adjust the sample text size to small, medium, or large.
We're committed to continually improving to meet your changing needs. Based on your feedback, here are the enhancements to Illustrator in the March 2025 release.
Illustrator now makes color selection more flexible and intuitive with enhanced Hex code input, supporting multiple formats—including hex codes, decimal values, and CSS color names. Navigate to the Color panel to set color codes using:
Expanded Hex codes: Enter single-digit (1 → 111111), double-digit (12 → 121212), and three-digit (123 → 112233) formats for quick color selection.
Decimal formats: Enter values like 12,255,09; 12 255 09; or 12.255.09, and Illustrator will accurately translate them to hex (0CFF09).
CSS color names: Enter standard color names from a list of 148 colors, like Red (FF0000) or Blue (0000FF). You can also enter partial color names like 'Ye' and Illustrator will suggest Yellow (FFFF00).
With version 29.4:
- If an old or new file doesn't contain generative AI content, Illustrator won't add Content Credentials to any new generative AI content you create.
- If you import artwork that already includes Content Credentials (such as from Adobe Firefly and earlier Illustrator versions) into an old or new file, Illustrator will preserve them when you export that artwork. Additionally, in such files:
- Illustrator won't add Content Credentials to any new generative AI content you create and export as a separate asset.
- Illustrator will preserve the Content Credentials if you export the new generative AI content along with the imported artwork.
With versions 29.3 and earlier: As before, Illustrator will add Content Credentials to all new generative AI content and preserve the Content Credentials included in any imported artwork.
