The AI-powered Distraction Removal tool helps you remove distractions such as windows and glass reflections and, extra people in a photo.
Reflections removal
The Reflections feature under the Distraction Removal tool helps you adjust reflections in a photo taken through windows or glass doors. The Reflections Removal tool quickly removes prominent and noticeable window reflections, allowing the subject of your image to stand out with clarity. Select the available Quality options to determine the resolution of the results while removing reflections.
People Removal
The People feature in the Distraction Removal tool automatically detects and removes distracting or extra people from your photos. With a single selection, it identifies people in the background and seamlessly eliminates them to enhance your image’s focus.
Experience improvements while performing interactive editing tasks, delivering a smoother, faster, and more responsive experience. These enhancements are particularly advantageous for demanding operations that previously encountered speed and fluidity issues.
Key Improvements:
- Crop Rotation Improvements
- Brush improvements
- Linear gradient improvements in the Masking panel
These updates address previous performance bottlenecks, enabling a more efficient and productive editing workflow, particularly when working with images involving extensive edits and multiple masks. The improvements are evident in the enhanced speed, precision, and fluidity of the editing process.
You can now view and update made with AI-powered tools like Denoise, Super Resolution, Raw Details, and more. Once an AI edit is applied to a photo, the AI Edit Status icon will automatically activate, allowing you to view and refresh all AI edit settings in one place.
Lightroom Classic now supports native tethered capture for Fujifilm cameras. Select File > Tethered Capture. Additionally, tethered capture now supports three new Canon cameras. For more details, see:
Find newly added cameras and lenses in the full list of supported profiles:
- Enhance options as standard edit features: You can now access Denoise, Raw Details, and Super Resolution in the Detail panel, as these features are now available as standard edit panel features.
- Auto-XMP write enhancements: The Auto-XMP write process is optimised to improve overall performance and responsiveness. Lightroom Classic now temporarily pauses automatic XMP writing during imports, resuming once the import is complete. Additionally, XMP data for the active image is written every 10 seconds, rather than after each edit, reducing interruptions during editing workflows.
- Remember Last Selection in a Collection or Folder: Lightroom Classic now remembers your last image selection for up to 25 of the most recently accessed sources, including collections and folders. If there is no prior selection for a source, Lightroom will default to the first image or preserve any overlapping selection from the previously viewed source. To access this, select Preferences > File > Remember the Last Selection from a Source During the Session.
- Warning Dialog to Use Smart Previews: You will now see a warning dialog at start, if the Use Smart Previews instead of Originals for image editing preference is turned on.
- Duplicate detection during Import: Previously, files with different names weren't recognised as duplicates, even if their content matched. Duplicate detection now also allows renamed files to be accurately identified as duplicates.
- New filter in Metadata and Smart Collections: The following new options have been added under Library Metadata Filters > Develop and in the Smart Collection creation dialog box:
- Has Reflections removal
- Has Distracting People removal
- Has Denoise
- Has Raw Details
- Has Super Resolution
- Faster loading of Color Labels for Folders at launch: In earlier versions, Color Labels for Folders took time to appear, particularly when expanding complex folder structures. With this update, labels now load much faster, providing a smoother and more responsive experience.
- Precise CaptureTime data: Lightroom Classic now retains CaptureTime data with millisecond precision. This update should resolve issues where some images captured in burst mode were incorrectly detected as duplicates. This update does not address other capture date/time precision issues.
- Locate missing folder: While locating a missing file, you can now easily locate the missing folder, in addition to the existing option to locate missing images.
