Forms Manager Frequently Asked Questions

You can define or update the tag list using the CRX administration interface.

Ensure that while exporting forms from one server to another, same tags exist in both the forms. Otherwise, you will see the forms but not their corresponding tags.

A tag helps in easy classification and lookup of information. Tags support hierarchical structures. You can associate tags with assets in a many-to-many relationship. Tagging a form asset helps in easy classification and lookup of those assets anywhere within the tag hierarchy.

To tag a form:

  1. Search and select the form for editing in the Forms Manager user interface.
  2. With the TAGs head, click the icon. A dialog appears, which displays all the tags available on the server.
  3. Navigate in different tabs or parent nodes and click appropirate tags for the form.
  4. Once all the tags are selected, click the + icon to add the tags to the list

To remove tags from a form:

  1.  Search and select the form for editing in the Forms Manager user interface.
  2.  Under the TAGs head, select the tag to be removed and click the - icon to remove the tag from the list.

Changes to the TAGs list is not complete unless you click OK to save form properties.

Press the Esc key to dismiss the TAGs dialog box.

Forms Manager requires all the assets within a Adobe® LiveCycle® application. For users who have not created any application and do not use Workbench, Forms Manager creates a default application in the repository and lists it in the Forms Manager UI. It gets the users started with Forms Manager. The Default Application is visible on every new Shadow Nodes Root, at least once, unless it is explicitly removed from Workbench.

In addition, if you have a large number of assets, we recommend that you use Workbench to create multiple applications and distribute your assets within these applications. Keeping a large number of assets in a single application is not a recommended practice.

The supported image formats are PNG, GIF, BMP, JPG, JPEG, ICO, TIF, and TIFF.

The extensions can be either in uppercase or lowercase or in camelcase format. Preview of TIF, TIFF, and ICO images is currently not supported.

You can upload only valid XML using Upload Sample Data.

If you try to upload a file other than XML, Forms Manager displays an error. If you upload an invalid XML file with the form, there may be issues with the form preview. Once the sample XML is uploaded with the form, you cannot remove it. You can only update the file using Workbench or the upload functionality.

Use custom preview to preview the form without data after uploading the sample data. Do not pass sample data explicitly.

It is not recommended to change the Shadow Root Node. However, you can change it in the CRX Forms Manager configuration. If you change it, while copying assets from one server to another server, ensure that the Shadow Root Node is same in both instances.

XDP, PDF, and Print forms are supported by Forms Manager. Special PDF documents  like,  signed, certified, encrypted, or review-enabled PDFs are handled with some limitations. For a detailed list of these limitations, see Supported form properties.

Form  contains limitations with using special characters in form and application names:

  • A form with [ or ] (opening or closing square brackets) in its name does not upload to Forms Manager.
  • A form  with ;  (semicolon) or # (number sign) in its name does not render in Forms Manager or Forms Portal.
  • A form with % (percent sign), & (ampersand), ^ (caret), ` (grave accent), or { or } (opening or closing curly braces) in its name renders in Forms Manager but not in Forms Portal.
