Remove dust in a photo

Learn how to automatically remove dust spots in a photo.

The Dust Removal feature, part of the Distraction Removal panel in Adobe Camera Raw, helps remove dust spots in a photo. Currently available as Early access, this AI-powered feature automatically detects and removes spots created by dust on your camera's sensor.

  1. Open a raw photo with dust spots and select Remove  .

  2. Under Distraction Removal, select the drop-down beside Dust

    Note

    Camera Raw will automatically detect the dust spots in the photo and remove them. 

  3. Select a removed spot on the image and refresh or delete it using the buttons in the panel.

    Select the highlighted spots to manage individual dust spots.

  4. You can select   to switch back to the original photo. 

Batch-apply edit settings in the Dust Removal tool

  1. Select More image settings   once you have applied the desired edits to a photo in the Dust Removal tool. 

  2. Select Copy Selected Edit Settings. In the Copy Edit Settings menu, choose Dust from the drop-down menu under Remove.

  3. Select or de-select all the other edit settings, then select Copy.

  4. Open the photo where you want to paste these edit settings, navigate to the More image settings   menu and select Paste Edit Settings.

    Note

    When Dust Removal settings are pasted to other photos, detection will run in each photo to account for changes in spot size and/or location.

  5. You can also select multiple photos and apply the copied edit settings together.
