Make stunning images with Generative Fill

Available in the Photoshop (Beta) desktop app only

Generative Fill is a magical new tool grounded in your innate creativity, enabling you to add, extend, or remove content from your images non-destructively, using simple text prompts to achieve realistic results that will surprise, delight, and astound you—in seconds.

To install Photoshop beta on your desktop, visit the Beta apps tab of your Creative Cloud desktop app and select Install next to Photoshop (Beta)

To work with Generative Fill, begin with making a selection with any of the selection tools in Photoshop around a desired object or an area in your image. Then do any of the following:

  • Select the Generative Fill button in the contextual task bar that appears.
  • Select Edit > Generative Fill from the application bar.
  • Ctrl/ Right+click within the selection and choose Generative Fill from the menu.

With Adjustment Presets, you can preview and change the appearance of your images in just a few steps. The Adjustments panel now comes with presets — Portraits, Landscape, Photo Repair, Creative, Black & White, and Cinematic — an ideal solution for photo editors starting to create gorgeous images and needing to save time and effort in elaborate workflows.

Remove distractions with the Remove Tool

Remove Tool ( ) in Photoshop is an easy-to-use yet powerful tool for quick, easy cleanups. Use it to get rid of distractions or unwanted areas in your photos. It uses intelligent technology to remove unwanted objects when a user brushes over them and automatically fills in the background while preserving the integrity of objects and depth in complex and varied backgrounds.

Remove Tool is particularly powerful when removing larger objects while respecting boundaries between objects. For example, this tool can remove an entire building or car from a mountain landscape image while maintaining the fidelity of the mountainous terrain.

Find relevant next steps with the Contextual Task Bar

With the May release of Photoshop 24.5, you can find the right tool at the right time to speed up your workflows in Photoshop with Contextual Task Bar.

The Contextual Task Bar is a persistent menu that presents the most relevant next steps in your workflow. For example, when an object is selected, the Contextual Task Bar appears on the canvas with more curated options for the potential next step, such as Select and Mask, Feather, Invert, Create Adjustment Layer, or Fill Selection.

Improved Gradients

With the May release of Photoshop 24.5, you can easily draw, preview, and modify beautiful gradients with improved Gradient Tool in the Photoshop desktop app.

The Gradients feature has been significantly improved and the workflow has been expedited with the introduction of new on-canvas controls and a live preview, that is created automatically and that can be edited non-destructively.

Use the Gradients widget to adjust your gradients and check out their impact in real-time. Add color stops and opacity stops, and move those to make the color, density, opacity, and blend mode adjustments to the gradients.
