Stop an in-progress agreement and prevent further actions by canceling it.
Canceling an agreement immediately ends the transaction and moves it to the Canceled status on the Manage page. Once canceled, the agreement cannot be completed, but it can be copied and sent again as a new agreement.
Before you begin
- Only the sender of an agreement can cancel it.
- Canceled is a terminal status and cannot be reversed.
- Canceling an agreement triggers actions associated with terminal statuses, such as retention or downstream processing.

Select the Cancel action in the right rail.

Enter a reason for canceling the agreement.

Review the notification behavior based on how the agreement was created:
- For agreements created manually, you can choose whether to notify all participants.
- For agreements created from a workflow, notifications are always sent based on the workflow’s email settings. The notification option is replaced with the message “Notifications will be sent based on workflow settings.”

Select Cancel Agreement.
The cancellation is applied immediately.
