Use Adobe Authenticator for two-step verification

Learn how to use Adobe Authenticator, the authentication app from Adobe, for two-step verification.

Adobe Authenticator is no longer available to download. If you've already installed it, you can continue to use it for some time. We'd recommend that you use the Adobe Account Access app to make your Adobe account more secure.

What is Adobe Authenticator?

Adobe Authenticator is an authentication app from Adobe that provides a convenient and secure way to sign in using two-step verification. It is available for iOS and Android devices. You can also use Adobe Authenticator on your connected smartwatch.

In addition to generating a verification code that you can manually enter when signing in to your Adobe account, Adobe Authenticator also sends you a notification on your device.

How to sign in to your account using Adobe Authenticator

When you enter your Adobe email address on the sign-in screen, Adobe Authenticator sends a notification to your device, prompting you to approve the sign-in.

Open the notification, and you can see the options to either approve or decline the sign-in authorization. To sign in, tap Approve.

Alternatively, you can manually enter the verification code generated by Adobe Authenticator.

Once the code is verified, enter your password on the next screen to sign in to your Adobe account. 

How to deactivate Adobe Authenticator

  1. In the Two-step verification section, use the toggle to disable Adobe Authenticator.

  2. Select Remove to deactivate Adobe Authenticator as a method of two-step verification.

  3. If no other authentication methods are enabled, you receive an onscreen message and an email, confirming that Adobe Authenticator has been deactivated. 

    If another authentication method is enabled, it continues to remain available as a method for the two-step verification. 

Frequently asked questions

At a time, you can only use one authenticator app. To use another authenticator app, remove Adobe Authenticator first.

No, you do not have to keep the app open to receive push notifications.

Your phone need not be online to launch the app. However, to register the app or to sign in from the phone, it needs to be online.

If you have another device online, you can sign in to your Adobe account from it with the codes from your offline phone.

You can use any of the following methods to enable two-step verification for your Adobe account:

  • Adobe Account Access app (recommended method)
  • Verify with email
  • Verify with text messages (SMS)
