Learn to normalize audio to meet broadcast loudness standards and configure true-peak limits in Adobe Media Encoder.
Adobe Media Encoder can automatically correct the loudness of your video and audio exports so they meet broadcast delivery requirements. You can choose a loudness standard, fine-tune true peak limits, and generate a loudness report for each export.
Apply loudness correction to an export

Use the Format and Preset settings in the Queue panel to choose the export format and quality preset before rendering.

Select the format or preset next to a queued file to open the Export Settings dialog box.

Select the Effects tab, and select the Loudness Normalization checkbox to expand its settings.

From the Loudness Standard dropdown list, choose a standard that conforms to the loudness standard of your region. There are three options:
- ATSC A/85
- EBU R128
- ITU BS.1770-3
You can only change the loudness for ITU BS.1770-3. You cannot change the loudness for the other standards.

To limit peak overshoots more precisely, select the Configure True Peak Limiter checkbox, then set the Look-Ahead Time and Release Time values for the limiter.

Select the Write Loudness Report checkbox to save a report of the loudness values and true peak level as an XML file alongside your export.

To save the report to a specific folder, select the Specify Report Location checkbox, then select Browse and choose a destination folder.

Select OK to apply loudness correction to the export.
Media Encoder normalizes the audio in your export to the loudness standard you chose and applies the true-peak limiter settings if you configured them. If you selected Write Loudness Report, an XML file with the loudness value and true peak level for the export is saved to the location you specified.
Configure multichannel audio
Loudness normalization natively supports mono, stereo, and 5.1ch audio. If your source uses a different channel configuration, such as 4ch, 8ch, or 16ch, the Channel Configuration screen appears.
Note
In the Channel Configuration screen, assign each audio stream to mono, stereo, or 5.1. The total number of channels you assign must match the number of channels in your source file, or Media Encoder can't normalize the audio.
