Reset preferences to fix startup issues

When Media Encoder experiences startup issues, the Reset options dialog box offers a convenient way to troubleshoot and fix these issues. This dialog box allows users to perform several key actions, such as:

  • Reset preferences: Using the Reset options dialog box to reset preferences restores all settings to their default state, often resolving issues preventing the app from launching as expected.
  • Clear media cache: Media Encoder caches media files and previews to improve performance. Clearing the cache from the Reset options dialog box can remove cache data that may interfere with startup.
  • Restore default presets: Clearing custom encoding presets from the Reset options dialog box may help resolve conflicts or errors caused by corrupted or incompatible preset configurations.
  • Turn off plugins: The Reset options dialog box temporarily disables all plugins, allowing Media Encoder to start without any additional components. This approach can help you identify and disable a plugin.
The Rest options dialog box is open and has options to reset preferences, presets, plugin cache, and disable third-party plugins. Includes a Shift-key tip and Relaunch with options and Cancel buttons.
Select one or more reset options to customize how Media Encoder restarts.
