Remove unwanted people in a photo

Learn how to remove people in a photo with the AI-powered Distracting People Removal tool.

The People feature under the Distraction Removal tool in Adobe Camera Raw helps remove distracting people from your photos. This AI-powered feature automatically detects distracting people in an image and removes them in just one select. 

  1. Open a raw photo with distracting people and select Remove  .

  2. Under Distraction Removal, select the drop-down beside People

    Note:

    Camera Raw will automatically detect all the distracting people in the photo and create a mask overlay (red by default) with individual pins over them.

    Select the pin over a highlighted area to delete them.

  3. To exclude someone from the removal, select the pin over them and press the Delete key.

  4. Select Remove to remove the selected people.

  5. You can select   to switch back to the original photo or select the pin over people to generate variations. 

Batch-apply edit settings in the Distracting People Removal tool

You can now achieve editing consistency and save time by applying the Distracting People Removal edit settings to multiple photos together or copy-pasting the settings and applying them to the pictures of your choice. To edit multiple images together, select all the images you want to edit and use the Distracting People Removal edit settings while the images are selected. Camera Raw will automatically sync the edits in all the selected images. 

To copy-paste edit settings, follow these steps:

  1. Select More image settings   once you have applied the desired edits to a photo in the Distracting People Removal tool. 

  2. Select Copy Selected Edit Settings. In the Copy Edit Settings menu, choose People from the drop-down menu under Remove.

  3. Select or de-select all the other edit settings, then select Copy.

  4. Open the photo where you want to paste these edit settings, navigate to the More image settings   menu and select Paste Edit Settings.

  5. You can also select multiple photos and apply the copied edit settings together.
