Remove reflections in a photo

Learn how to remove reflections in a photo with the AI-powered Reflection Removal tool.

The Reflection Removal tool in Adobe Camera Raw simplifies removing reflections from photos taken through glass windows. This tool eliminates large and prominent window reflections in just a few steps, allowing your image's subject to stand out clearly. The Reflection Removal feature supports raw and non-raw file types.

  1. Select and open a photo with reflections. 

  2. In the Remove   panel, select Distraction Removal > ReflectionsApply

    Note:

    Camera Raw will automatically detect and remove the reflections in the photo.

  3. Quality determines the resolution of the result. Preview is the lowest resolution, suitable for sharing on social media, and the fastest to process. Standard is an intermediate resolution, ideal for viewing photos at normal screen resolution. Best is the full resolution, and it takes the longest to process.

    Select the desired Quality option from the drop-down menu.

  4. You can adjust the slider (set to 100 once the reflections are detected and removed). 

    Tip:
    • Set the slider to 100 to view the image after removing the reflection.
    • Set the slider to 0 to view the original image with reflection.
    • Set the slider to -100 to view only the reflection in the glass without the original subject. 
    • Sometimes, the +100 setting might show the reflection. If so, move the slider to -100 to view the image after removing the reflection.

    For the best results, it is recommended that you adjust the reflections first and then edit the image using other features and tools. 

Copy-Paste Reflection Removal edit settings

  1. Select More image settings   once you have applied the desired edits to a photo in the Reflection Removal tool. 

  2. Select Copy Selected Edit Settings. In the Copy Edit Settings menu, choose Reflections from the drop-down menu under Remove

  3. Select or de-select all the other edit settings, then select Copy.

  4. Open the photo where you want to paste these edit settings, navigate to the More image settings   menu and select Paste Edit Settings

  5. You can also select multiple photos and apply the copied edit settings together.
