LiveCycle ES2 SP2 | Rollup Pack

Posted on May 19, 2013

The Adobe® LiveCycle® ES2 SP2 Rollup pack includes all previously released updates for the LiveCycle ES2 SP2 Server components detailed in the Issues addressed in the Rollup Pack section.

Install this Rollup Pack if you wish to bring your LiveCycle ES2 SP2 Server installation up-to-date with all the updates provided.

Upgrading to the latest release of Adobe LiveCycle software provides an excellent way for your organization to protect investments in developing forms, processes, and applications. For details on upgrading to LiveCycle ES4, see Benefit from upgrading to LiveCycle ES4.

Prerequisites to installing the Rollup Pack

This Rollup pack must be installed on a system with LiveCycle ES2 SP2 (9.0.0.2).

Note:

The Rollup Pack can also be installed on a LiveCycle system with Quick Fixes (QF) installed over ES2 SP2. However, the Rollup Pack would abort if a higher QF is already applied to the system than those contained in the pack.

Installing and configuring the Rollup Pack

  1. Stop the Application Server. Instructions provided in the Preparing to Install LiveCycle ES2 document.

    Note:

If you are installing the pack on a JBoss Application Server, you need to clean the JBoss Work and Temp directories.

  2. Extract the 9.0.0-RUP-2.201_<Application Server>.zip / 9.0.0-RUP-2.201_<Application Server>.tar.gz archive file to your hard drive.

  3. In the directory named according to the operating system that you are using:

    • Windows
Navigate to the appropriate directory on the installation media or folder on your hard disk where you copied the installer, and double-click the install.exe file.
      • (Windows 32-bit) Disk1\InstData\Windows\VM
      • (Windows 64-bit) Disk1\InstData\Windows_64bit\VM
    • Linux, Solaris, AIX
Navigate to the appropriate directory, and from a command prompt, type ./install.bin.
      • (Linux) Disk1/InstData/Linux/NoVM
      • (Solaris) Disk1/InstData/Solaris/NoVM
      • (AIX)Disk1/InstData/AIX/VM

This launches an install wizard that guides you through the installation.

  4. On the Introduction panel, click Next

  5. On the Choose Install Folder screen, verify that the default location displayed is correct for your existing installation, or click Browse to select the alternate folder where LiveCycle ES2 SP2 is currently installed, and click Next.

  6. Read the Rollup Pack Summary information and click Next.

  7. Read the Pre-Installation Summary information and click Install.

  8. When the installation is complete, click Next to apply the Rollup pack updates to your
    installed files.

  9. The Start Configuration Manager checkbox is selected by default. Click Done to run the Configuration Manager.

To run Configuration Manager later, deselect the Start Configuration Manager option before you click Done. You can start Configuration Manager later using the appropriate script in the [LiveCycle root]/configurationManager/bin directory.

  10. Follow the LCM wizard instructions and LiveCycle documentation to prepare the setup.
Choose an appropriate upgrade option, if applicable.

  11. For a cluster installation of LiveCycle ES2 with Acrobat 9:

    1. Replace the \Acrobat\plug_ins\PDFGen.api file with the newer file from \plugins\x86_win32.

    2. Replace the .kfp files from \plugins\x86_win32 with the .kfp files in the \Acrobat\plug_ins\Preflight\ folder.

For LiveCycle ES2 with Acrobat X:

    1. Replace the \Acrobat\plug_ins\PDFGen.api file with the newer file from \plugins\acrobat10\plugins\x86_win32.

    2. Replace the .kfp files from \plugins\acrobat10\plugins\x86_win32 with the .kfp files in the \Acrobat\plug_ins\Preflight\ folder.

  12. Restart the LiveCycle server.

  • You may encounter dead-locks while using XA data source of DB2 and creating JDBC connection in activities such as executeScript. Xa datasource for DB2 does to release 'write' lock on a table or record until the process is not finished. It is recommended, do not create seperate JDBC connection and move JDBC operation to out-of-box JDBC operation. The dead-locks do not occur while using MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server databases.
