Best practices for Reframe Videos in Creative Production

Last updated on Jun 13, 2025

Learn how to effectively use Firefly Creative Production’s video resizing and reframing action for optimized outputs.

Here are some key considerations when preparing videos for auto-resizing and reframing using the Reframe Videos (beta) action in Creative Production.

Use center-cut safe footage with a single primary subject and minimal scene transitions

  • Reframe Videos (beta) adjusts videos by cropping and resizing them to fit different aspect ratios. To ensure key visuals remain centered and aren't accidentally cropped out, it's best to have a single, clear subject or focal point in the frame.
  • While reframing and resizing, the action tracks motion and keeps the main subject in focus. When multiple subjects are present in a frame, the focus may not be consistent.
  • Frequent or rapid transitions can disrupt smooth tracking and consistent framing. Therefore, minimizing scene transitions is considered optimal.

Multi-subject video with minimal motion and scene changes

  • Video with multiple subjects identifies the key primary subject in the frame and continuously follows its movement, ensuring it remains centered and properly framed throughout the video.
  • With no or minimal scene changes and a single continuous shot, without cuts to different angles or locations, the reframed and resized video can consistently keep the subject in focus.

Align graphics with the subject to avoid cut-offs

  • Ensure that graphics such as text and logos are aligned with the primary subject or adjusted according to scene changes. For instance, wide-screen graphics may be cut off when the camera auto-selects and reframes the subject, especially during motion or scene transitions.
