Match camera motion to reference video

Last updated on Mar 11, 2026

Learn how to upload a reference video and match its camera motion in the generated video.

Try it in the app
Generate a video that matches the camera motion of your reference clip.

When generating a video with the Generate video feature, you can upload a reference video to extract its camera movements—like pans, zooms, tilts, and motion path to guide the generation. This helps the new video match the cinematic style and dynamic flow of the reference.

Before you begin:

Have a motion reference video ready. It should be 5 to 10 seconds long and under 200 MB in size.

On the Adobe Firefly homepage, select Generate from the left panel, then select Generate Video.

In the General section, select Model as Firefly Video.

In the General settings section, the Model dropdown menu is open and under partner video models, Firefly Video is selected.
Select Firefly Video as the model to use the Motion reference option for video generation.

Select the Resolution and Aspect ratio for the generated video from the available options.

Frames per second will be the default 24 FPS, and Duration will be 5 seconds.

If you want your generated video to begin or end with specific images, use the Frames section and add them as the first frame, last frame, or both.

Tip

If the uploaded reference image doesn’t match the selected Aspect ratio, the image is cropped automatically. Hover over the thumbnail to preview the image, move your cursor over the preview to activate the crop tool, and adjust the crop if needed.

In the Camera section, under Motion reference, use the Upload video option to add a reference video for camera motion.

In the Camera settings section, a video is added as the camera motion reference video.
Match the generated video to the camera motion of the uploaded reference clip.

Note

The reference video must be between 5 and 10 seconds long and under 200 MB in size. If the video exceeds 5 seconds, only the first 5 seconds will be used as the reference for video generation.

To specify the visual style for your generated video, choose from the available style presets.

Note

The Style section may not be available if you choose to add a reference image under Frames.

In the Advanced settings section, use the following options as needed:

  • Seed: Add a seed number if you want to control randomness and generate similar videos.

On the Generate video page, enter a text prompt in the Prompt field.

Tip

To improve your original prompt, select the Enhance prompt   option next to the Generate button.

Once the video is generated, you have the option to preview and download it.

You can also hover your cursor over the generated video to preview, download, rate, and add sound effects using text prompts or your own voice recording using the Generate sound effects option.
