Follow along with any project to learn how to manage AI edits. 

  1. Open and edit a photo using AI-powered features like Denoise, Masking, Lens Blur, Generative Remove, and more.

  2. When a photo has AI-powered edit settings, the AI Edit Status button is enabled. The button will have a dotted yellow highlight when some AI settings need to be updated to render your photo properly.

    Note:

    If any AI powered settings doesn't need to be updated, it will not have a yellow border.

  3. Select AI Edit Status to view the details of all the edits made with AI-powered features.

    Filters that need to be updated are highlighted in yellow. A solid border indicates supported AI edits, and a dotted border indicates those not supported in Lightroom on the web.

  4. Select Update All to update all highlighted AI settings in top-down order.

The AI Edit Status   button is available on Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom on desktop, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on mobile, and Lightroom on the web. Follow the mentioned workflow to access the AI Edit Status   button in your preferred Lightroom surface. 

Order of AI Edit operations

The recommended order of operations to avoid unexpected results and achieve the best output is as follows: 

  1. HDR
  2. DenoiseRaw DetailsSuper Resolution
  3. Reflections Removal 
  4. Distracting People Removal
  5. Generative Expand (Currently available only in Adobe Camera Raw as Tech Preview)
  6. Generative RemoveContent-Aware RemoveHeal, and Clone
  7. Lens Blur
  8. Lens Profile 
  9. Crop and Transform
  10. Adaptive Profiles
  11. Global Adjustments
  12. Masking
Note:
  • AI settings that need to be updated but are not supported by Lightroom on the web are highlighted with a dotted yellow border.
    • After selecting Update All, Lightroom on the web will remove the unsupported edit feature from the list.
    • Non-web supported AI settings: Denoise, Raw Details, Super Resolution, Reflection Removal, People Removal (Lightroom on the web can add it but can't update it), Generative Expand, Adaptive Profile
  • AI settings that need to be updated and are supported by Lightroom on the web are highlighted with a solid yellow border.
    • After selecting Update All, Lightroom on the web will keep them in the list without any color border.
    • Web support AI settings: Generative Remove, Lens Blur, Adaptive Profile, Masking (exclude person or people mask)
  • If the photo contains any Person masks, a dialog box appears that provides an option to keep or remove the update.  
    • If you check the Remove person masks checkbox, the person mask will be removed, updating all other types of masks. Masking appears as updated without any color border.
    • If you don't check the checkbox, the Masking will be highlighted with a solid yellow border since the unsupported person mask still exists.
