Add new objects with non-generative AI Photoshop tools

Watch this video and learn how to add an object in Photoshop with non-generative AI tools.

  1. Select Select area > Tap select  .

  2. Select the Subject of the image that you’d like to edit. Then, select the checkmark   to commit the changes.

  3. Select Apply as mask    from the toolbar.

  4. Select the add layer   menu to work with any of these layer options to add a new image:

    • Empty layer  : Add a new blank layer.
    • Fill layer  : Add a color fill layer.
    • Type layer  : Add a text layer.
    • Adjustment layer  : Add an adjustment layer. 
    • Image layer  : Add an image layer from Photos, Adobe Stock, or device files. 
  5. Swipe left on the thumbnail for a detailed view of the layers. Then, reorder the layer sequence in the Layers panel by selecting and dragging the layer to move it up or down in the layer stack.

    Note:

    Long press and drag in the compact Layers panel to reorder the layers in the layer stack.

  6. Within Layer properties, select Transform to further resize the image basis the requirements. Then, select the checkmark   to commit the changes.

    Tip:

    You can further refine the image using Blend and opacity, Edit mask, and Modify mask tools.

Add new objects with Generative fill

  1. Select Select area > Lasso  .

  2. Draw a freehand selection with the Lasso tool.

  3. Select the checkmark   to commit the change.  

  4. Select Generative fill   and type an effective prompt in the Prompt textbox.

  5. Select Generate  .  

    Tip:

    Select More to create additional variations of the generated image.  

  6. Select the checkmark   to commit the change.
