Using Text to video and Image to video
1. What should you consider when using Text to video and Image to video on the Firefly website for the best experience?
Here are some key considerations to keep in mind to maximize your experience while using Text to video (beta) or Image to video (beta):
- Text to video and Image to video are available on desktop and selected mobile devices.
- Use Chrome and Safari browsers.
- Prompts should contain at least eight words and must not exceed 1800 characters.
- Keep your tab or browser window open while the video is being generated.
- Avoid generating content in multiple windows or browser tabs simultaneously. If you encounter any errors, wait for about a minute and then try again.
- Make sure you have the rights to use uploaded images when generating videos. Alternatively, you can generate images using the Text to image feature.

3. What are the top use cases for the Text to video and Image to video features?
Here are some of the top use cases:
- Add atmospheric elements such as smoke, lens flare, and water on the overlay of a black or green screen.
- Animate an image. For example, animate water flows for a waterfall.
- Animate in 2D or 3D, including claymation, to communicate creative intent.
- Graphics and text videos.
- B-roll focused on plants, animals, and landscapes – particularly with camera motion. Additionally, generate a b-roll from a single frame or image.
4. My pending video disappeared. How do I recover it?
Pending videos are saved within your browser session. Closing the browser tab will result in the loss of your video generation progress.
5. How do I change the cropping of my image?
Our video model may need to crop your image to fit the required image size the model is expecting. This is done from the center, so you may lose part of the image around the edges. To crop an image yourself, you can use Adobe applications like Adobe Express.
A seed is a number that helps start the process. It controls the randomness of what the AI creates. If you use the same seed, prompt, and control settings, you can regenerate a similar asset.
If the properties such as prompt, uploaded image, and controls are changed, the same seed is used. If the properties remain the same, a new seed is generated.
7. Why do I keep getting similar-looking people in my video generations?
When you change any setting or prompt, the seed will remain the same. This will often give you humans that appear to have a similar appearance in terms of race, ethnicity, or skin tone. Changing the seed number under Advanced Settings could change the racial, ethnic, or skin tone of the humans.
