Translate video clips into multiple languages in a few simple steps.

Translate video in Firefly allows you to convert spoken content in a video into various languages. This effortless translation and dubbing of videos enhances the viewer experience and helps you connect with a broader audience by making the videos accessible in multiple languages.

Before you begin:

Identify a video file in .mp4 or .mov format up to 4K resolution. Ensure that it's a minimum of five seconds long and up to 10 minutes in length. The file must contain at least 5 seconds of continuous audio.

  1. On the Firefly homepage, go to the Video section and then select Translate video.

  2. Select Browse files and upload the file you'd like to use.

To achieve the best results when uploading your video file, make sure to consider the following:

    • Your recording (video or audio) needs at least five seconds of spoken voice.
    • Recordings should have clear audio with audible speech and minimal reverb or background noise.
    • Currently, only single speakers are supported – multiple speakers taking frequent turns will give undesirable results.
    • Recordings should have only one language spoken throughout.
  3. On successful upload, the Source language (auto-detected) dropdown menu under Translate audio shows the detected language.

    Tip:

You can use the Source language (auto-detected) dropdown menu to change the source language.

  4. Select the language or languages you want to translate into from the Translate into dropdown menu.

A video is uploaded and under the Translate audio section, there are two options - Source language and Translate into. In the Source language dropdown menu, English is detetcted and in the Translate into, French for France and Canada is selected.
Use the Translate into dropdown menu to select multiple languages for file translation.

  5. Select the Lip sync option to match the speaker’s mouth to the audio translation, or deselect it if you want audio translation without the lip sync.

The Lip Sync option is toggled on to ensure the speaker's mouth movements are synchronized with the translated audio.
Use the Lip sync option to synchronize the speaker's mouth movements with the translated audio and provide a natural viewing experience.

    Note:

The Lip Sync feature is available only to enterprise customers with eligible Firefly plans.

  6. The Transcript field shows the transcribed text of the audio in the original video. If you prefer to edit the transcript for accuracy, contact your CSM for more details on the related APIs.

  7. Select Generate.

A progress bar shows the status of the dubbing and lip sync process. If you close the page and return later, you can download only the final processed file from the Your media section.

  8. Once the translation is complete, use the Language dropdown menu to select a translated language and review the content.

The Language dropdown menu is open and it lists all translated languages as well as the original one.
Use the Language dropdown menu to review the translated versions before downloading them.

  9. Select Download to download the translated version.

The generated dubbed file is also added to the Your media section and will be available for download for seven days. After that period, it will be permanently deleted.

The Your media section contains recently translated videos and a note indicating they will be deleted after 7 days of processing.
The translated videos will be available for download for seven days after processing, giving you ample time to download them at your convenience.

Note:
  1. The output video resolution will match the original if it's below 1080p. Otherwise, it will be scaled down to 1080p.
  2. The translated and dubbed version of the original video will have Content Credentials attached to it.
