Learn about Adobe cloud storage and data center locations.

Hosting and infrastructure

  • Adobe cloud storage is powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), which operates through multiple active data centers in various locations.
  • All data centers are resilient and highly available, capable of withstanding system or hardware failures with minimal impact.

Data center locations

Adobe cloud storage data centers are in North America, EMEA, and Japan.

Document storage and management

  • Your documents are securely stored in Adobe cloud storage.
  • Your geographic region determines the storage location to ensure optimal performance and compliance with local data residency laws. This keeps your data within your region and aligns with regulatory requirements.
For example, if you're located in Japan, your documents are stored in the Adobe cloud storage data center in Tokyo.
  • When using generative AI, your documents are not stored in Microsoft Azure OpenAI.
  • Content extracted from your documents is split and encrypted before being sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI for processing. The encrypted data is temporarily cached in Adobe Cloud Storage for up to 12 hours to ensure a fast response time.
  • The generative AI tools process your input in real time and do not retain your document content after the session ends.
  • Your data stays within Adobe’s secure environment and is not used to train AI models.
Document management in Adobe cloud storage
Documents are stored securely in Adobe cloud storage based on your region, and not in Microsoft Azure OpenAI, ensuring your content remains within Adobe's trusted environment.

Migration and account management

  • New enterprise accounts are automatically assigned to the nearest regional data center.
  • For older accounts, contact account admins for migration assistance.
  • Customer Success Managers (CSMs) may assist with migration discussions.

Disaster management and business continuity

  • Each data center operates on independent infrastructure, ensuring business continuity during disruptions.
  • Regional disaster recovery plans are maintained, along with documentation outlining steps for failover to other cloud regions.
  • Adobe aims for disaster recovery parameters:
    • Recovery Point Objective (RPO) of two hours. The amount of data that could be lost during disaster recovery. The amount of time between data protection events determines this metric.
    • Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of eight hours: The time required to recover from a data-loss event and return to service.

Applicability and solutions

  • Adobe cloud storage serves Adobe Document Cloud and Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Adobe Acrobat and PDF Services.
  • Acrobat Sign operates on separate data centers. For more information, see Acrobat Sign data centers.
