Installation for individuals

User experience
Once installed, Adobe Acrobat becomes the default PDF viewer in SharePoint and OneDrive. You see an Adobe icon instead of the default PDF icon and can access the Adobe cloud storage for converting, exporting, or combining PDFs, regardless of their subscription status.
Access for new users
Newly added users automatically gain access to the app once it's deployed to all tenant users.
Uninstallation restrictions
The app cannot be uninstalled or restricted for selected users or groups; it must be removed for the entire tenant via the Microsoft Admin console.
Installation delay
Microsoft caching infrastructure may delay the app's installation or removal by up to 48 hours. If it takes longer, you must reinstall or contact Microsoft Support.
Recent files limitation
The app does not appear in the recent files section due to limitations in file handler framework of Microsoft.
Subscription issues
If you have an active subscription but cannot access paid features, your organization may be using an older perpetual licensing agreement instead of the named licensing agreement. Contact your reseller to migrate to the named licensing agreement or file a support ticket at Adobe Support.
Data and security
Document storage
- Documents are stored in their original location on SharePoint or OneDrive.
- Viewing, commenting, and searching are done locally on your machine.
- Changes are saved to SharePoint or OneDrive.
- For actions like Create, Organize, Combine, or Export, documents are temporarily processed on Adobe Document Cloud servers and deleted within 24 hours. The modified document is then saved back to SharePoint or OneDrive.
Data sent to Adobe
- When an individual installs the application from AppSource or Adobe's website, only contact information is shared with Adobe for marketing purposes.
- If an admin installs the application across the tenant, no contact information of tenant users is shared with Adobe.
