Lightroom on the web uses AI Masking tools to analyze your images and automatically identify the subject, sky, background, objects, or people. After making the selections, you can easily fine-tune them using the editing sliders to achieve the desired adjustments.

  1. On the Lightroom on the web homepage, select All Photos.

  2. Select an image to open it in detail view, and then select Masking .

  3. Within the Masks panel, select Create new mask. Then, choose one of the following AI Masking tools:

    • Subject: Selects the main subject in the photo for targeted adjustments.
    • Sky: Selects the sky in the image for isolated edits.
    • Background: Selects the background by excluding the main subject.
    • Objects: Selects specific objects in the image for precise editing.
    • People: Selects individuals in the photo, allowing refinement by facial or body features.
    • Landscape: Selects landscape elements like sky, mountains, architecture, vegetation, water, natural ground, or artificial ground for enhancement.
  4. Lightroom on the web auto-selects subjects, sky, background, objects, people, or landscapes, showing the selection overlay and creating a mask in the Masks panel.

  5. Select Create to create a mask.

  6. Use the editing sliders to make the desired local adjustments.
