Create a cafe promo poster with Viewer

Create a cafe promo poster with Viewer

In this Quick Tip, we use Substance 3D Viewer (beta) to create a promotional poster by generating 3D assets.

  1. Get or prepare a poster file

Before starting, you'll need to find a poster template or create one from scratch:

    1. If you have a pre-designed poster, open it in Adobe Photoshop (beta). Make sure it has enough space for new elements like a coffee cup and pastry.
    2. Alternatively, create a new poster in Photoshop (beta).
      1. Open Photoshop (beta).
      2. Create a new document. In the video above, we used the following settings
        • Size: A4
        • Resolution: 300 dpi
        • Color mode: RGB (for digital displays)
      3. Design your poster layout by adding a background, text placeholders, or branding elements.
  2. Generate a 3D coffee cup with Viewer

    1. Open Adobe Substance 3D Viewer.
    2. Go to the “Create 3D model with text Prompts” section at the top right.
An image of the Viewer home screen with the "Create 3D models with text prompts" button highlighted.

    1. In the text field, enter a prompt like "Traditional white coffee cup".
    2. Click “Generate” and wait for the 3D model to appear.
      • Optional: Adjust the composition by setting the canvas size or adding a background image (import from Photoshop).
    3. Once satisfied, go to the “Snapshot” button at the top right and:
      1. Enable Transparent Background.
      2. Click Copy Snapshot to Clipboard.
  3. Import the coffee cup into Photoshop (beta)

    1. Switch to Photoshop (beta).
    2. Press Ctrl + V (Windows) / Cmd + V (Mac) to paste the coffee cup onto the poster.
    3. Resize and position the coffee cup as needed.
  4. Generate a 3D croissant (or other pastry)

    1. Return to Substance 3D Viewer.
    2. Use the same steps as before but enter a prompt like "Croissant in vector style".
    3. Generate the model and copy it to the clipboard.
    4. Paste it into Photoshop (beta), resize it, and adjust placement as needed.

Repeat this process to add additional pastries or elements.

  5. Finalize your poster in Photoshop (beta)

    1. Arrange the coffee cup and pastry in a visually appealing way.
    2. Add text and branding (e.g., café name, slogan, pricing).
    3. Apply adjustments (brightness, contrast, color grading).
    4. Save your final poster:
      • For print: File > Save As > PDF or TIFF (CMYK).
      • For digital: File > Export > PNG or JPEG.
