Run Premiere Pro faster with native support for Apple silicon devices. 

Adobe video and audio products no longer support Rosetta

Starting with version 24.0, Adobe video and audio products no longer support Rosetta emulation (Intel versions running on Apple M1/M2). Please be aware that the Creative Cloud desktop still shows the Rosetta option on M1/M2 machines, but this will still launch the native Apple Silicon version. Intel versions can only be run on Mac Intel machines.

The Open using Rosetta option is no longer available in the Get Info window.

Premiere Pro now runs natively on Macs with Apple silicon with average speed gains of around 80% compared with similarly configured previous-generation Apple systems.

Known differences and limitations

Some differences in functionality and features are unavailable in Premiere Pro on Apple silicon chips.

  • Capture workflows (DV, HDV, third-party capture support, and device control)
  • The loudness radar effect.
  • Export to Wraptor DCP
  • Import and export of the GoPro CineForm codec
  • Import of specific XDCAM formats (currently XDCAMEX)
  • Export to the P2 Movie format

Plugins and Integrations

Our SDKs have been published so Adobe video technology partners can update their effects, plug-ins, and panels to work with Premiere Pro on Apple silicon chips. Check with your plug-in maker to view if they have a version ready for Apple silicon. 

Are legacy versions compatible?

Previous versions of Premiere Pro are compatible with Big Sur and there are no known issues at this time.  We recommend updating to the latest version of Premiere Pro for the best experience.
