Change the aspect ratio of clips

Learn how to adjust your video to fit any screen or platform in Premiere on iPhone.

You can change the aspect ratio of clips directly from the toolbar. This makes it easy to adapt your video for different outputs, such as widescreen, square, or vertical formats.

Open your project in Premiere on iPhone.

Tap the Aspect ratio icon in the toolbar at the top of the screen.

Change the aspect ratio from the top toolbar to quickly adapt your video for different screens and platforms.

Choose the ratio you want, such as 9:16, 16:9, 4:3, 3:4, 1:1, 4:5, 3:2, 2:3, or 5:4.

Preview how your video looks in different aspect ratios before sharing.

The clip updates instantly to match the selected aspect ratio. For clips that don't match the project's aspect ratio, the background is automatically blurred. You can remove or adjust the blur effect using the Background option on the toolbar.

Tip

Pick the aspect ratio that fits where you want to share your video.

1:1 (Square) is best for Instagram posts.

7:9 (Portrait) works well for stories on Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.

7:4 or 9:7 (Landscape) is great for YouTube, Twitter, and other platforms that use widescreen formats.
