Freeze a clip

Last updated on Oct 10, 2025

Learn how to hold on a single frame by freezing a clip in your timeline in Premiere on iPhone.

Freezing a clip lets you pause motion at the frame where the playhead is stopped, helping you emphasize a moment, build tension, or create a dramatic pause in your edit. The frozen frame is added as a separate clip, four seconds long by default, but you can adjust its duration as needed. Freezing also splits the original clip at the playhead position.

Move the playhead to the frame you want to freeze and tap the clip in the timeline.

Scroll through the toolbar at the bottom of the screen and tap Freeze.

A still frame is added to the timeline at the playhead position. You can adjust its duration by dragging its ends.

Tap Freeze to hold on a single frame and create a pause in your video.
