Create images using text prompts

Learn how to use descriptive text prompts to generate complex and custom images.

On the Photoshop on the web homepage, select Start from scratch to create a new blank document.

Select Add image from the toolbar. Then, select Upload an image   to upload an image or select an image from available categories.

Select Generative > Generate image  .

Type an effective prompt in the Prompt textbox. Then, set the Content type as Photo or Art.

Tip

Detailed descriptions, including desired colors, mood, lighting, and style, produce better results and help guide the creative process.

Within the Composition (beta) dropdown, select either the Current layer or Visible layers to provide a structure reference to the generated image.

Photoshop on the web homescreen is displayed with Generative panel opened showcasing options to type a prompt, select Content type, Select Composition, Style, and more.
Upload a reference image by dragging it into the drop zone or selecting it from the Gallery options in the Composition (beta).

Within the Style dropdown, select either the Current layer or Visible layers to provide a style reference to the generated image. 

Within the Effects dropdown, select the desired effect from the Gallery to explore various creative controls for customizing the generated image.

Select Generate .

Note

Generate image deducts one standard generative credit per generation.
