Last updated on Jun 27, 2025

Learn how to generate images from simple text descriptions using Firefly on mobile.

Note:

This workflow applies to Firefly on mobile for iOS and Android devices. Unless otherwise specified, the feature functions the same across platforms.

  1. Open Firefly on mobile.

  2. Tap Text to image.

  3. Describe the image you want to create in the Prompt field.

    Tip:
    • Use clear, straightforward language with at least three words to create effective text prompts.
    • If you want to specify text in an image, use quotation marks. For example, "Firefly" or "Hi".
  4. Tap General and choose from the Adobe models and Non-Adobe models

Image variations are generated according to the image model you choose.

    • Adobe models:
      • Firefly Image 4 Ultra: Generates one image.
      • Firefly Image 4: Generates four image variations.
      • Firefly Image 3: Generates four image variations. If using Fast mode, you can upscale before downloading
    • Non-Adobe models:
      • Imagen 3: Generates one image.
      • Imagen 4: Generates one image.
      • GPT Image: Generates one image.
The Model dropdown menu is open and there are different Firefly image models listed. Currently, Firefly Image 4 is selected.
Browse Firefly and partner image models to find the one that fits your image generation need.

  5. Set the aspect ratio you want to use for the generated image variations.

  6. Use the settings in the bottom panel and refine the image generation further:

    • Content type: Tap ArtPhoto, or Auto select content type to allow Firefly to automatically select the content type according to the prompt.
    • Visual intensity: Adjust the slider to control how closely the generated images should match the Style reference.
    • Composition: Add an image or select one from the library to use as a reference, allowing Firefly to match the outline and depth of the reference image.
    • Style: Add a reference image to match the visual style and aesthetic, add Effects, Color, Lighting, and Camera angles.
  7. Tap the Generate  icon to generate a set of image variations.

  8. Choose an image from the generated variations and then tap the image in the top panel for the following actions:

    • Share options icon > Open in Adobe Express for further editing.
    • Download icon to download the image.
    • Upscale icon to upscale the image if Fast mode was enabled while generating the image.
    • Edit to view image editing options.
