Create custom gradients

Learn how to create custom gradients using color swatches and apply them to backgrounds, shapes, or images to add depth and vibrancy to your designs.

Follow along with a design to learn how to set custom gradients.

Open a design in Adobe Express and select an object on the page.

In the left panel, select the color picker labeled Color, Fill, Border, or Outline.

Select Custom, and then select Linear Gradient, or Radial Gradient.

Note
  • Linear Gradient is applied left to right for all objects and backgrounds.
  • Radial Gradient is applied inside-out.

Select the plus   icon to add up to five color swatches. 

Drag the color swatches on the gradient bar to select the colors and adjust the gradient spread.

Add up to five color swatches and use the sliders to adjust each color and its spread.

Select the close icon to remove the color. If only one color remains, the style automatically switches back to Solid Fill.

Select Invert gradient   to flip the gradient direction by 180 degrees.

Select Rotate gradient   to rotate the Linear Gradient by 45 degrees.

Tip

To quickly apply a gradient, select Swatches from the color picker and scroll down to Gradients to pick from 20 preset gradients.
