Expand images with generative AI

Learn how to expand your image and fill extra space with generated content that blends with the original image.

Use the Expand image feature in Adobe Express to resize your image using generative AI, which can generate the missing parts of your image and create a natural background extension for any layout or dimension.

Open an image in the Adobe Express editor.

Note
  • The image must cover the full width or height of the page.
  • Expand image works only on the current page and cannot be applied to multiple pages at once.

Select Edit page   > Resize. If your image qualifies, Expand is enabled and checked by default in the Resize panel.

Select the page size you want your image to fit.

Use the Browse panel to select the size from the given options or manually add your dimensions.

Select Resize to adjust the current page or Duplicate & Resize to keep the original and add a page with the new size.

Select an image from the Results or select Generate more to load additional options.

Once you’ve finalized an image, select Keep. Select Discard to go back to the Resize panel.
