Try it in the app
Generate videos using Firefly Video model and add them to the timeline in a few simple steps.

When working with Firefly video editor (beta), you can easily generate new videos directly from within the editor, without needing to switch pages or leave your workspace. You can use the built-in Firefly Video model's generation settings and instantly add them to your timeline. This streamlined workflow allows you to work with ideas and experiment with styles without interrupting your editing flow.

On the Firefly homepage, select Create from the left panel and then Edit video (beta).

Open a project or create a new one to access a timeline.

On the editor page, select the Generation settings   icon from the right panel.

Open the Model dropdown menu under General settings and select Firefly Video.

Add a text description for the video you want to generate.

The Video editor home screen displays the Generation settings panel on the right, and a text box for entering a prompt.
Enter a text prompt describing the video you want to generate.

Specify the resolution and aspect ratio for the generated video.

The Video editor screen displays the Resolution dropdown menu, used to set the resolution of the generated video.
Set a desired resolution and aspect ratio for the generated video.

Note

The default settings for generated videos are 24 frames per second (FPS) and a duration of 5 seconds.

If you'd like to guide the visual direction of your video using images, you can upload them for the first and last keyframes, or just one of them, under the Frames section. These images act as visual guides, helping Firefly Video generate content that begins and/or ends with your uploaded frames.

The Video editor screen displays the Keyframes section with an uploaded image as the first keyframe.
Upload images as keyframes to guide how your video starts, ends, or both.

If you want to use the frame at the exact playhead position on the timeline, under Frames, select First or Last, then select Current Frame.

Note

If you add the First or Last frame, some options, such as Reference under Composition setting, Motion reference, Shot size, and Camera angle under Camera settings, and Style setting, are automatically disabled.

If you want to upload a video and use it as a composition reference, go to Reference under Composition and select Upload video. Firefly combines this video with your text prompt to generate a new video that follows the original layout while matching your prompt.

The video editor screen displays the Composition settings with the option to upload a reference video or reset.
Guide the composition of the generated video by uploading a reference.

You can also specify camera behavior using the following generation settings:

  • Motion referenceMatch the camera motion in the generated video with the uploaded reference video.
  • Shot size: Determine how much of the subject or scene is visible within the frame.
  • Camera angle: Define the perspective from which the camera views the subject.
  • Motion: Specify how the camera moves during the shot.
The Video editor screen displays the Camera settings panel with options for shot size, camera angle, and motion.
Adjust camera behavior in the generated video by setting shot size, angle, and motion.

Under Style, you can also select a style preset to give your video a distinct visual identity.

The Video editor screen displays the Style panel with preset options like 2D, 3D, Anime, Cinematic, and Claymation.
Apply presets to quickly stylize your video’s appearance.

Note

Selecting a style automatically disables the ability to set a start or end frame in the Frames section.

In the Advanced settings, use the Seed option to add a seed number that helps start the process and controls the randomness of what the AI creates. If you use the same seed, prompt, and control settings, you can generate similar video clips.

Select Generate.

The generated video is added to the Generation history panel, and you can drag and drop it to the timeline.
