Learn how to view distances between objects or between an object and the artboard using the Distance Guides.
View distances between two Objects
Press Alt (Windows) or Option (macOS) and hover near the second object.
Note
When you enable Smart Guides, Adobe Illustrator displays the Distance Guides showing the vertical and horizontal distances between the selected object and the object you're hovering near.
Tip
Select View > Smart Guides to enable Smart Guides.
View the distance between an Object and the Artboard
Select the object you want to measure using the Selection tool.
Move the cursor over an empty area of the artboard while pressing Alt (Windows) or Option (macOS)
Note
Illustrator displays the object's distance from the top, bottom, left, and right edges of the artboard using the Distance Guides.
