Learn how to customize the Paintbrush tool options to adjust the stroke settings and appearance.
Double-click the Paintbrush tool to open the Paintbrush Tool Options dialog box.
In the Paintbrush Tool Options dialog box, you can use the following options:

Fidelity |
Controls how far you move your cursor or stylus before Illustrator adds a new anchor point. The Fidelity slider ranges from Accurate (for detailed paths) to Smooth (for cleaner curves). |
Fill new brush strokes |
Applies a fill to brush strokes. Use the option when drawing closed paths to automatically fill the enclosed area. |
Keep Selected |
Ensures that the path remains selected after you draw it. |
Edit Selected Paths |
Allows you to modify the selected paths using the Paintbrush tool. |
Within |
Sets how close your cursor or stylus must be to the selected path to edit it with the Paintbrush tool. To use the slider select Edit Selected Paths. |
