Apply fill colors

Learn how to apply fill colors to objects in Adobe Illustrator.

Select the object using the Selection tool.

In the toolbar, double-click the Fill box to open the Color Picker.

Note

If you're new to Illustrator or have reset your preferences, the default Fill color will be  Orange (#f8991d) until you change it or open the Color Picker from the toolbar or Color panel.

In the Color Picker dialog box, select the Color Picker icon to set a Fill color.

The Color Picker dialog box is displayed on the screen showcasing options to select a Fill color for the selected object.
Use the Color Picker dialog box to select the desired Color Swatches.

Select OK.

 

Copy color values instantly

Illustrator now lets you copy color values directly from the Color panel, Color Picker, New Swatches, or Swatch Options dialog box. You can pick any color, select   to copy the hex values, and share them instantly across documents or brand assets.
