Plugin installation errors in apps

Find error codes and their solutions when installing plugins from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Error messages and codes during installation indicate that the plugin installation has failed. Find plugin installation error codes, messages, and their solutions in this table. 

Note

Some errors are listed in a range format rather than spelled out individually. For example, if you search for error-161, you won't find it directly since it's included in the range -1xx (-151 to -191).

Unknown error

Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

File System error

The file system errors are usually permission errors or are related to disk space. To resolve the issue:

  • Free some space on the disk.
  • Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

If this doesn't work, close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, install the extension or plugin again

Extraction failure

Error -3 indicates that the compressed plugin file is corrupt, is missing one of the plugin files, or your device has run out of disk space. To resolve the issue.

  • Free some space on the disk.
  • Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps.
  • Reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Manifest parse failure

Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Internal parsing failure

Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Plugin not compatible

Error code -6 indicates that the downloaded plugin isn't compatible with any of the installed Creative Cloud apps. An extension or plugin installed on Adobe Exchange isn't added to your Creative Cloud app if the version isn't compatible with the extension. Similarly, if you update your app and it's no longer compatible with the extension or plugin, it won't appear in the app.

Install a compatible app, close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app, and install the extension or plugin again.

If the issue persists, try these solutions in the given order.

Download failure

Ensure you are connected to the internet. Then, verify that you are signed in to Adobe Exchange and the Creative Cloud desktop app with the same account.

No Internet connection

Check the internet connection, close the Creative Cloud desktop app, and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Connection timeout

Check the internet connection, close the Creative Cloud desktop app, and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Invalid extension

Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Database update failure

Timeout error

This error occurs if you don't enter your account credentials when prompted, causing a timeout. To resolve this, install the plugin again and enter your credentials when prompted.

The user isn't signed in

This error occurs when you’re not signed in to the Creative Cloud desktop app. To resolve this issue, ensure you are signed in with your Adobe account.

Operation failed

Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Operation failed

Close the Creative Cloud desktop app and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

App is still running

Close the app that is compatible with the plugin, then install the extension or plugin again.

Plugin installer isn't ready

Close and reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Unable to verify developer certificate

This error occurs for UXP hybrid plugins that require a portion of the plugin’s code to be signed with a valid developer certificate.

Request the developer to update the plugin according to the packaging guidelines and try installing it again once the updates are available.

Extension isn't entitled

Acquire the entitlement for the plugin and install the plugin again.

-152

Couldn't install plugin

This error occurs only on macOS Catalina and later versions.

To resolve this issue, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access. Select the (+) icon and then add the following apps, if not already present:

  • Creative Cloud desktop app: /Applications/Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Adobe Desktop Service: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Desktop Common/ADS

Use the toggle next to these apps to allow Full Disk Access for them. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.

Entitlement not found

  • Ensure you’ve signed in to Adobe Exchange and Creative Cloud with the same account. If not, sign in with the same credentials on both Adobe Exchange and the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Launch the Creative Cloud desktop app and select Help > Check for updates to refresh your plugin entitlements.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.

Permission issue

This error occurs when you don’t enter your account credentials when prompted.

To resolve the issue, install the plugin or extension again and enter your credentials when prompted.

Plugin operation timeout

Check the internet connection, close the Creative Cloud desktop app, and other open Creative Cloud apps. Then, reopen the Creative Cloud desktop app and install the extension or plugin again.
