    1. Generative credits access and use

Learn what generative credits are and how to use them for generative AI features in Creative Cloud products.

Explore the basics of how generative credits work.

Generative credits are used to generate high-quality image, vector, video, and audio outputs. They can be used in most Creative Cloud products in your plan, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Firefly, a web app and family of creative generative AI models used in our tools.

Most standard generative features, like Generative Fill in Photoshop, use one credit per generation. If you have a Creative Cloud Pro or Firefly plan, you have unlimited access to standard generations.

Premium generative features, like video, are more computationally intensive and require more credits. The number of credits used will depend on the length of the output. For example, generating 5 seconds of video will use fewer credits than translating 10 minutes of video. If you run out of credits, you can either wait until your generative credit balance resets for the next month or purchase more through the Firefly plans.

Frequently asked questions

Most features that consume generative credits will have the sparkle   icon. Your plan type will determine if a credit is consumed. Learn more about Adobe's generative AI features.

Creative Cloud Pro and Firefly plans include unlimited access to standard generative features, and credits will only be deducted when using premium features. Some generative AI features don’t consume any generative credits.

When you use a feature for the first time, you’ll receive a one-time message indicating that the feature is using generative AI and may consume generative credits.

The Generative credits dialog box informs users that a feature uses generative AI and that most standard features use 1 credit per generation. It also notes that credits aren't deducted for those with Creative Cloud Premium and Firefly plans. There is an option to select OK to acknowledge this information and use the feature or to select Cancel if you don't want to use the feature.

*The dialog box may differ depending on the product.

Most generative features also show the sparkle   icon that indicates the feature is using generative AI.

If it’s a premium feature, the tool icon may have a colored background or a crown   icon. Or, the tool might be marked Premium.

The Timeline panel displays a set of clips, with the Generative Extend Tool highlighted in blue. This colored background indicates that Generative Extend is a premium feature.
The Generative Extend tool in Premiere Pro has a colored background, indicating that it’s a premium feature.

Yes, generative credits are used across most Creative Cloud products. Generative credits are tied to your Adobe ID, and the number of credits depends on your plan(s).

You can access your generative credit count in your Adobe Account or by navigating to your product’s in-app home screen and selecting your profile icon. A counter will show the number of monthly generative credits allocated to your account and the number of generative credits you have used in this cycle.

  1. Go to your Adobe Account page.

  2. Select Account in the upper-right corner of the page.

The profile icon on the Adobe Account page is selected and account panel is open. In the Adobe account section, the monthly generative credits are displayed, showing how many credits are left and how many have been consumed. It also displays when the monthly generative credits will be reset.
Select your profile icon on the Adobe Account page to check your generative credit count. This menu will vary based on your plan type.

    A. Number of generative credits left in the current billing cycle B. Number of generative credits included in your plan

No, Adobe will not charge you for additional credits unless you decide to buy more.

When you have exhausted your monthly credits, you can purchase an additional Firefly plan directly in the product or on our Firefly plans and pricing page.

Generative credits don’t roll over. The credit count resets each month based on your plan’s monthly reset date.

You can find your monthly reset date by visiting your Adobe Account anytime. Your monthly reset date is the day of the month on which you first initiated your plan.

Yes, generative AI features are visible across products, but a paywall will appear when you try to generate with a premium feature if you don’t have access to it.

For example, all users will see Generative Extend in Premiere Pro version 25.2 and later. Users with plans that have access to premium features will be able to use it, and users without access can use complimentary tries before upgrading.
