Learn how to import images, incorporate stock assets, or use generative AI models to create and add images to your mood board.

You can start your mood board by collecting visual elements that align with your vision and theme. Images such as photographs, illustrations, color swatches, textures, and patterns play a crucial role in conveying the overall aesthetic and mood. Firefly Boards (beta) enables you to import and utilize your own images, incorporate stock assets, and even use generative AI models, including both Firefly and Non-Firefly models, to create images.

  1. On the Firefly homepage, select Firefly Boards.

  2. On the Firefly Boards page, select Create new.

  3. To import an image, use the Import    option to add it to the canvas.

    The icon to add image is highlighted and there are two options listed - Your device or Creative Cloud.
    You can add images from your device or Creative Cloud or generate ones using Firefly and Non-Firefly models.

  4. To search and add images on Adobe Stock, select the   icon in the right toolbar and use the Search panel to browse the results. 

    The Search option is highlighted, allowing you to use the Search panel to find stock images on the Adobe Stock website.

  5. To generate an image with a text prompt and add it to the canvas, select the prompt bar at the bottom of the page.

    The prompt panel is open, offering options to adjust settings such as Image models and aspect ratio. You can also use existing images on the canvas to sample and generate new images. Additionally, there is a generation history panel to view previously generated images.
    Choose image models and aspect ratios for generating images or sample existing images on the canvas to create new ones.

  6. Add a text description in the prompt bar. You can also select from the available Firefly and Non-Firefly models and aspect ratio for the generated images.

    The list of Firefly and Non-Firefly models is available to choose from to generate images and add them to the canvas. Currently, the Firefly Image 3 (Fast) is highlighted.
    You can choose from a variety of Firefly and Non-Firefly models to generate images and add them to the canvas.

  7. If there is an image in the canvas you want to use as a reference, you can select the Sample from canvas option and use the following options:

    • Use as style references: Match the style of the generated images to the selected style.
    • Use as composition reference: Guide the layout and structure of generated images to the selected image.
    • Extract sub-prompts: List the auto-generated text prompts based on the selected image and choose one to add directly to the text prompt.
    The sample from the canvas is selected, and an image in the canvas is chosen. There are options to use it as a reference for style and composition, and even to use the extracted sub-prompts
    Select a sample from the canvas to use as a reference for style and composition, or to utilize extracted sub-prompts.

    Note:

    If you want to adjust or change the generation settings, such as reference images or sub-prompts, before generation, you can use the Generation settings option next to the Generate button.

    The generation history is available and the Generation settings option is highlighted next to the Generate button in the text prompt.
    Use the Generation settings option to quickly access and adjust image generation settings to generate new variations.

  8. Select Generate, and you will get the generated image variations in the film strip.

  9. Drag the generated image and drop it onto the canvas. To select and move multiple images, hold the Shift key while dragging and dropping them onto the canvas. Alternatively, you can also use the Place to canvas option.

    The two generated image variations are selected from the generation history strip, and the Place to Canvas option is chosen to move them to the canvas.
    Drag the selected images to the canvas or use the Place on Canvas option to add them.

Tip:
  • When you choose multiple images on the canvas, the Remix feature allows you to combine elements from these images using generative AI models, creating unique visuals for your mood board.
  • You can also select the image, then   , and use the Find similar inspiration option to browse through similar images on the Adobe Stock website.
