Error 178 causes installation failure

Learn how to resolve error code 178 "The installation path contains invalid characters" during Adobe app installation.

Error code 178 indicates that installation can't be completed because the installation path contains an invalid character.

Solution

Select the Account icon in the upper right corner, and then select Preferences.

The Account menu shows options such as Preferences, Sign out, and monthly generative credits for Gen AI features.
Selecting Preferences will open a new window.

Select Apps from the left panel.

Select the edit icon  next to the Install location option and select the location where you want to install your Creative Cloud apps.

Select Done to apply the changes.

Install the app again.
