Learn how to create a simplified copy of your sequence to remove unwanted elements in Adobe Premiere.

Simplifying sequences helps you streamline your timeline, making it easier to focus on your story during editing. It’s also useful when you want to remove unnecessary elements before sharing or exporting your sequence to another editor.

Select a sequence and select Sequence > Simplify Sequence. Or right-click a sequence and select Simplify Sequence.

Premiere makes a copy of the sequence, and in the Simplify Sequence dialog box, you can choose the elements you do not want in your sequence copy.

Simplify your timeline by choosing options to close gaps, flatten Multi-Camera clips, and remove unnecessary elements before creating a simplified sequence.

Choose from the following options to refine your sequence:

  • Close vertical gaps on video tracks: Moves clips downward until a blocking clip or locked track is encountered.
  • Flatten Multi-Camera clips: Replaces multi-camera clips with their original source clips, making them non-switchable.
  • Remove from elements: Choose whether to remove elements from video tracks, audio tracks, or both.
  • Remove sequence markers: Delete markers based on their color.

After selecting your preferred options, select Simplify to create the simplified sequence.
