Play back in a continuous loop

Last updated on Apr 1, 2026

Learn to use In and Out points with the Loop button to repeat playback continuously for real-time editing adjustments in Adobe Premiere.

Loop playback repeats a selected portion of your sequence continuously, letting you refine edits, adjust effects, or review timing without manually restarting playback.

Use loop playback to make real-time adjustments to video effects, color corrections, or audio parameters, and view the results immediately. This workflow is particularly useful for fine-tuning keyframed animations or evaluating transition timing. Continuous playback only stops when you issue a stop command, allowing uninterrupted work on interface items, timeline edits, and metadata without breaking your review flow.

If the Loop icon isn't visible in your monitor's button bar, you can add it using the Button Editor icon.

Enable loop playback

Position the playhead at the starting frame of the section you want to loop.

Set the In point by selecting Mark In or using I.

Move the playhead to the ending frame of your loop section.

Set the Out point by selecting Mark Out or using O.

Select the Loop icon in the monitor's button bar to enable continuous playback between your In and Out points.

Use Space or L to begin loop playback.

Your sequence now plays continuously between the In and Out points. While loop playback is active, you can adjust effects in the Effect Controls panel, modify keyframes, enter metadata, or make other edits without stopping playback. Use Space or K to stop playback when finished.
