Show or hide metadata in Premiere

Last updated on Apr 1, 2026

Customize the Metadata panel by selecting which schemas and properties to display for your workflow in Adobe Premiere.

Customizing which metadata appears in the Metadata panel helps you focus on the information most relevant to your current project.

Use the Metadata Display dialog box to control which metadata schemas and individual properties appear in your Metadata panel. This customization optimizes the panel for specific workflows, for example, showing only video-related properties for editing tasks or displaying copyright information for asset management. The changes you make affect only your current workspace and don't modify the actual metadata stored in your files.

Configure metadata visibility

In the Metadata panel, select the panel menu icon and then Metadata Display.

In the Metadata Display dialog box, locate the schemas or properties you want to control.

Select metadata schemas to locate specific schemas or properties you want to control.

Select the checkboxes next to schemas or properties you want to display, or deselect checkboxes to hide them.

Select OK to apply your changes.

The Metadata panel updates immediately to show only the schemas and properties you selected. You can return to the Metadata Display dialog box at any time to adjust your selection.

If you work with multiple workflows requiring different metadata configurations, you can save custom metadata sets. From the Metadata Display dialog box, select Save Settings to preserve your current configuration, then switch between saved sets as needed for different projects.
