Set clip timecode manually

Last updated on Jan 7, 2026

Learn how to set timecode manually in Adobe Premiere to align clips or sequences with specific time references.

You can change the timecode from that recorded by Premiere.

Select the clip in the Project panel.

Select Clip > Modify > Timecode, specify options as needed, and select OK.
The Clip menu is open from the menubar. From the Modify menu, the Timecode option is selected to start adjusting the timecode manually.
To manually change the timecode, select the Timecode option.

Note

If your workflow relies on modifying the source clips using Modify > Timecode, don't use proxies in Premiere. Doing so will result in unexpected behavior.
