Tips for Managing Premiere Updates
To avoid disruptions, don’t update Premiere during major projects—wait until you're between projects. Use the Creative Cloud Desktop app to disable auto-updates and control when updates occur.
Understand product updates
- Adobe schedules around six updates for Premiere every year, usually with dot releases like 25.1 or 25.2.
- Adobe also releases one major update yearly with a new version number, like 24.x or 25.x.
- Premiere updates with the same version number are compatible. A project saved in Premiere 24.6 can be opened by Premiere 24.0 or any other 24.x version.
Scheduled updates: Recommended maintenance
Dot release updates are a great time to do your Premiere housekeeping. This includes checking your system drivers (one of the most common causes of performance issues), clearing and rebuilding your media cache.
