Create boards

On the Firefly homepage, select Boards.

On the Boards page, select Create new board.

To import an image, use the Import    option to add it to the canvas.

To search and add images on Adobe Stock, select the   icon in the right toolbar and use the Search panel to browse the results. 

To generate an image with a text prompt and add it to the canvas, select Describe what you want to generate at the bottom of the page.

Add a text description in the prompt bar. You can also select from the available Firefly and partner models and aspect ratios for the generated images.

If there is an image in the canvas you want to use as a reference, you can select the Sample from canvas   icon and use the following options:

• Use as style references: Align the style of the generated images with the selected image from the canvas.
• Use as composition reference: Guide the layout and structure of generated images to the selected image.
• Extract sub-prompt: List the auto-generated text prompts based on the selected image and choose one to add directly to the text prompt.

If you want to adjust or change the generation settings, such as reference images or sub-prompts, before generation, you can use the Generation settings option.

Use the Aspect ratio option to select from the available dimensions for the image.

You can select the Content type from Art or Photo, or set the model to auto-choose the content type based on the prompt.

Select Generate to generate image variations. The thumbnails of these variations will appear in the film strip.

Drag the generated image and drop it onto the canvas. To select and move multiple images, hold the Shift key while dragging and dropping them onto the canvas.

Once you add the image to the canvas, when you select it, you have the following editing and adjustment options:

• Vary: Use the image to generate new image variations that maintain a similar style or composition, with subtle variations.
• Edit: Use the Generative fill and Generative expand capabilities to edit the image.
• Remove background: Remove the background of the image.
• Download: Download the image to your local device.
• Open in: Open the image in Photoshop on the web or Adobe Express.
• Find similar inspiration: Opens the Search panel and displays similar images available on Adobe Stock.
• Cut, copy, or duplicate the image, or paste any copied elements.
• Rearrange, delete, and flip the image.

If you select two or more images in the canvas, you activate the following additional options:

• Remix: Use the selected images as an inspiration to generate a new set of remixed image variations.
• Arrange: Arrange the selected images in rows, columns, or a mosaic pattern layout.
• Align: Align the selected images along a specified axis and distribute them horizontally or vertically.

You can also use the Video   option in the prompt bar to generate a video using an Adobe or partner model and add it to the canvas.

If you want to add text to the canvas, use the Text   option in the left toolbar to activate the text cursor.  Select anywhere within the canvas where you want to add the text field, and start typing.

Use the text editing options to modify the text or select the Properties   icon to activate the Properties panel, where you can modify text attributes like blend mode, opacity, and color, as well as text box characteristics such as size, position, and rotation.

Select the Shape option from the left toolbar to access the available shapes - Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, and Arrow. Use the cursor to draw the shape and the available settings to adjust its properties.

Use the Properties    icon to activate the Properties panel, where you can modify shape attributes like blend mode, opacity, and color, as well as other settings such as size, position, and rotation.

Select multiple images from the canvas.

Select the Remix button that appears above the selection.

The remixed prompt appears in the prompt bar. Select Generate to combine them and generate a new set of variations.

In the prompt bar, select the eyedropper   icon and select the image on the canvas that you want to use as your style reference.

Select the Use as style reference option from the context menu.

Alternatively, you can select the Style option and use the eyedropper tool to pick a reference image directly from the canvas.

Select Generate to combine the prompt and the style reference image to generate a new set of variations.

In the prompt bar, select the Sample from canvas option and then the image on the canvas that you want to use as a composition reference.

Select the Use as composition reference option from the context menu.

The thumbnail of the selected image reflects as Composition reference in the prompt bar.

Select Generate to combine the prompt and the composition reference image to generate a new set of variations.

In the prompt bar, select the Sample from canvas button and then the image on the canvas.

The context menu lists a set of sub-prompts. Select one or multiple to add them directly to the prompt bar.

Add additional text description in the prompt bar if needed and select Generate.

Select the Artboard    icon from the left toolbar.

Draw the artboard on the canvas by using the click-drag action.

You can use the Properties panel to modify the artboard's attributes, such as blend mode, opacity, and color, as well as other characteristics, such as size, position, and rotation.

Drag and drop the assets inside the artboard and arrange it to suit your theme and composition.

If you've already arranged the visual elements of your board when you imported or added them, you can select them all, select the   option, and then Artboard from selection.
